There are some hoax in the world like the existence of super natural power and many more but the latest rumor that has bombarded the mind of Nepali people is the red number call.

People warn not to pick up such calls. According to rumors,
"It is a call from devil (or witch) and whoever answers such call, he/she gets killed."

They also say that the number is only four digit long which is red colored and sometimes a postal code " 977" also appears before the number.

Well don't worry. I'm here to show the reality to you.

It looks funny but the rumor has spread so far that Ncell is being forced by its users via social medias to release an official statement on this. However the leading mobile operator company in Nepal hasn't released any press or news on this topic yet.

Truth of Red Number Incoming Call Threats

Few days ago in January 2017, Nepal police arrested two singers Prasna Pandey and Deepak Baraili for posting some warnings on social medias about red number call as reported by CIB (Central Investigation Bureau).

But after being taken to Police Station, both of them admitted that they never received such calls. According to Deepak Baraili, he used an android app to create the red numbered call.

Secret Of Four Digit Numbered Call

Let's be clear about the four digit mobile number call that Ncell users often receive. This number (8888) is operated by Ncell care to inform their customers whenever they release an update in their service and deliver news to their customers. So that number won't harm you.



Some facts of red number call

I did some research on this and found interesting results. The idea of this hoax actually started from Nigeria in 2004 via an African online magazine. They posted a warning on their site that was later deleted as the news was completely fake.

Next prank occurred at Karachi, Pakistan on April 13, 2006. As reported by Reuters, the news was that people were dying due to a deadly virus transmitted through their cell phones. The stories were turned down and considered false because it was impracticable from an engineering point of view. There was no evidence for it.

Conclusion
There is no proof or evidence found yet in history that a red number call can harm an individual. Everything like call from devil or red number call kills is just a prank. So never believe in such things.


Personally, I believe that the things like red number call never existed. Moreover if you use an android app, you can only make changes in your own mobile phone. That means you can not control your friend's android and change its features including fonts and colors remotely. If you are using an old "Nokia" black and white mobile phone then there is no chance that anything will be displayed colorful on it, which means "No Red Number Calls". So don't believe in such things. They are complete hoax.

Why do people believe in such rumors?

It is due to superstition and horror movies that has made an impact on people's psychology.
